2023-24 Parent Letter

MMS Girls Basketball (grades 7th and 8th)

The 2023-24 girls’ basketball season will begin on Monday, January 22nd and conclude on March, 8th. Games will be played mostly on Monday and Thursdays starting at 4:00. A game schedule will be given out soon, we will be playing against the 3 Eau Claire MS and Chippewa Falls.

Practices will be every day after school from 3:05 – 4:45.  Our season will end on March 8th. As soon as the game schedule is completed we will get a schedule for all participants and families.

Players are expected to attend every practice when they are in school for the day.  If there are circumstances that prevent a player from attending practice please communicate this with a coach.

Participants must fulfill the requirements of academic standards and the athletic code of the school district. All extracurricular paperwork must be completed and returned before your child will be allowed to actively participate in practice.  This paperwork includes a physical, emergency contact card, the code of conduct and insurance information located in your MMS Activity Program Rules and Regulations packet. If your child has participated in a sport this year at Menomonie Middle School, all paperwork should be on file and does not need to be completed again. A $50.00 activity fee is due for all 7th and 8th graders. However, if your child has participated in a previous activity where a fee was required they do not need to pay.  Also each student must buy their team uniform shirt.  This T-shirt is good for all sports they participate in at MMS for 3 years and is theirs to keep.  The fee is $15.00 and should be paid in the office to MMS, please use a separate check from the activities fee. If payment is a concern please contact Tina Potter, Athletic Coordinator or Mark Anderson, Assistant Principal.

We work hard to build individual and team skills in the participants of our program.  Students will be expected to work hard to learn these skills.

We split into even teams by looking at players at each position and putting these players into teams to try to balance the strength of each team.  The coaches are then randomly assigned to each team.

It is also important to remember that as an athlete you are representing your team, coaches, school and community at all times.  Behavior should always reflect positively on those we represent.

We are looking forward to another productive and fun season of MMS basketball.

Thank you, if you have any questions please contact Tina Potter, Athletic Coordinator, 715-232-1673 ext. 30111 or email [email protected].
