We welcome all to participate no matter their skill level or experience. We encourage athletes to try different events. We celebrate PRs (personal records) for all athletes.

Our goals are to:

  1. Have fun.

  2. Be active & participate.

  3. Improve throughout the season no matter where you start.

  4. Learn the fundamentals of multiple events in Track & Field.

  5. Be a positive team member and display good sportsmanship.

Practice begins Tuesday APRIL 9.   Practice time is 3:10-4:40 pm Monday-Friday.  Attendance and announcements start promptly at 3:10 in the cafeteria before moving outside. Be dressed for and ready for practice at 3:10 pm (change in locker rooms).  Pick-up is in front of the school at 4:45 pm.

Activity Fee/Forms

The following need to be turned into the office or a coach before you practice.  They are available in the office and on the school website.   If you were already in a sport, the 50$ fee only is paid ONCE per year and covers all activities.

Appropriate Dress

Track and Field happens in all kinds of weather. When the weather is cool, please dress appropriately. We will be outside everyday for practice and track meets so be sure to have suitable school appropriate clothing for hot, cold or rainy weather. For their safety when it is cold out we recommend athletes have arms and legs covered. School dress code is enforced.

  • Long sleeves

  • Sweatpants/windpants/tights

  • Sweatshirt

  • Hat and gloves

  • Water Bottle Needed (no water available outside right now)

If practices or meets are canceled due to weather we will make an announcement by 2:00 pm.

If you know your student will be absent from practice (other activities, events, appointments)... Please email [email protected] AND [email protected].  Make every effort to attend practice, as multiple unexcused absences may result in you not being able to compete in the meets, as track is a team sport.

See schedule on Website.  Meet schedule not available until 2nd week of practice.

Team Composition:

Track is open to all genders of students in grades 6-8.  During competitions, 6th graders compete with the 6/7th graders and 8th graders compete separately against other 8th graders.  Boys and girls compete in separate heats at the same meets. Sometimes, genders are combined if numbers in races are low, especially in the distance events.
