Menomonie 8th Grade Football 2024
Greetings MMS 8th Graders,
Hopefully, you have enjoyed a restful, invigorating, and fun summer. As we get closer to the start of the school year, I can provide you with a few particulars about the start of our 2024 football season. If for any reason this changes, we will let you know as soon as possible.
Practice will start on Monday, August 19 at 3:15 pm on the fields to the north of the middle school . There will be an informational meeting for parents following our first practice at 5:15 pm. Parents can arrive at 5:00 pm to start filling out paperwork. We will have practice Tuesday through Thursday (Aug 20-22) of that week from 3:15-5:15 pm (no practice on Friday, August 23). Practice resumes the next week, Monday through Wednesday (August 26-28). We will have our first live action in the form of a controlled scrimmage at home on the MMS fields vs Ellsworth at 4:00 pm on Thursday, August 29.
Because each of us grows at a different pace, we split into two squads (once we are in gear): a heavy weight and a light weight. There is no set weight that we use to establish what team you will play on, and in many cases, your body development plays a role in how we determine where you play. Our number one concern is your safety! Our first two days are without equipment (except a helmet).
Players will need a bi-yearly physical, $50 athletic fee, code of conduct and emergency card. All paperwork can be received and filled out at the parent meeting on the night of August 19. If you have not had a physical in the last two years, you will need to get one before you can practice. Forms can be found on our website or contact the school office at (715) 232-1673 ext. 30111.

Please Note: Sport sign ups for Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, Girls Tennis and Boys Soccer will be during our Meet and Greet Day on Tuesday, August 27th.
