Unity Week: Today is National Unity Day. Unity Day is celebrated across the nation to help raise awareness and stand up against bullying. We wear orange on Unity Day as a symbol of safety and visibility. It helps us to visibly show that we are taking a stand against bullying within our school and community and that all are welcome and valued here. Each day this week we will be issuing a challenge. Try to do as many things related to this challenge as you can throughout the day. At the end of the day you will fill out a brief google form to share what you have done. Please be honest on the google form. It is okay if you forgot to partake in the challenge, try again the next day. Today’s leadership challenge is selflessness. Being selfless means that we put other before ourselves. A true leader recognizes the importance of other people’s success to the success of the whole group. Leaders recognize when it is important to help others and put their needs before our won. When we stand up to bullying by being an upstanders, it is a selfless act for us to stand up for the well being of others and being there to support them in their times of need. Other ways we can show selflessness are by: holding the door for peers, help your teachers and peers in class, doing something kind for others without expectation a reward in return, taking the time to volunteer, etc. How will you be selfless today?
