Informational Meeting
We will hold an informational meeting in the Middle School cafeteria on Monday, November 3 from 3:05pm - 3:30pm. Please have your ride pick you up at 3:30pm.
Practice
Practice will start at 3:30 and end at 4:45. Swimmers will be transported from the Middle School to the High School Fieldhouse via bus. Parents can expect swimmers to be ready to be picked up around 4:55. If you know you cannot pick up your child by that time, please message me on the ParentSquare Ap with your estimated arrival time. Swim practice will run from November 4th until Mid-January with 5 meets throughout.
Attendance
If you know there are days where you cannot attend practice (Ex: Science Olympiad, appointments, etc.), please let Coach Schulte know. Swimmers will not be excluded from meets due to attendance unless they have been gone the whole week leading up to the meet.
Paperwork
Please complete all necessary paperwork, which can be picked up in the office from Ms. Potter. If you have been out for a sport during the first quarter, your paperwork should be on file. We need swimmers to have their paperwork turned in before they are allowed to go to away meets.
Things you will need:
-
Swimmers will want to wear a one piece swimsuit so that it doesn’t fall off when you are diving into the pool and swimming fast.
-
Swimmers will need a swim cap so that all of your hair isn’t in your face while swimming. You can supply your own or purchase a Mustang swim cap for $5 from Ms. Potter.
-
Two pairs of goggles are recommended so that when one breaks you will have a backup. Swimmers will need goggles to help them swim straight and efficiently.
-
A water bottle and snack are recommended to help with stamina and endurance.
Meet Information
At each meet, swimmers will swim a maximum of 2 individual events and a maximum of 2 relay events.
Teams can win a meet by scoring points based on their placement in an event. For example, if one of our swimmers is 3rd overall in the 50 Free, Menomonie gets 2 points added to their overall score. This is a fun way to stay competitive, but it’s not our entire focus! We also want swimmers to improve individually.
The meet events are as follows:
-
Medley Relay; 4 swimmers and 4 different strokes
-
200 Freestyle
-
100 IM; 1 swimmer with all 4 strokes
-
50 free
-
50 Butterfly
-
100 Freestyle
-
50 Backstroke
-
50 Breaststroke
-
200 Free Relay; 4 swimmers all swimming a 50 Freestyle
If parents would like to take their swimmers home after away meets, they will need to sign them out with a coach first. Otherwise, we will assume they will be riding the bus home.
Parents, please send your swimmers with a snack to eat during or after the meet. We will not stop for meals and swimmers may be hungry that late at night.
ParentSquare
I will be primarily using ParentSquare to communicate with parents. I will use this app to share upcoming meet information as well as updates about when we’ll be getting home on the bus.
If you already have ParentSquare, your student and you will automatically be a part of the Girls Swim group. If you do not have it, you can download it here.
