What is LEAD at Menomonie Middle School?
Overall LEAD (Leadership, Executive function, Activity and Daily skills) is a great class for students who want reading and writing strategies for learning and studying, high school skills prep, finance/budget basics, recreation/physical activity days, job skill practice, executive function awareness and leadership skills, etc.
In 8th grade LEAD students will investigate, work to understand and demonstrate skills associated with leadership. In addition they will work on skills related to reading and writing comprehension, finance and consumer literacy and readiness for high school. They will also enjoy engaging recreational activities that foster problem solving, teamwork and physical activity both outside and inside such as Cribbage and Rummy 500. In 7th grade LEAD students will work to improve their ability to stay focused, plan ahead, regulate emotion, be flexible, foster development of their student and job skills, etc. They will also engage in recreational activities that foster problem solving, teamwork and physical activity both outside and inside such as card games and bocce ball.
