Homecoming:  Homecoming is Friday!  Make your plans ahead of time.  If you are riding a different bus after school, you will need to bring a note from your parents to the office Friday morning before school and get a bus pass.  If you are leaving early, you must bring a note from your parents with the time and reason.  Bring the note to the front office before school starts to get a pass.  Test/emails are not acceptable, you must bring notes.  You will not be allowed to call home during classes to make plans, so be sure you make your plans and talk to your parents before Friday!

FCCLA:  Attention all those interested in being a part of FCCLA:  We will hold an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 28th from 3 – 3:30pm in the FACS room.  This will be a short meeting so you can still attend sports practices.  We will discuss what FCCLA is and what we’d like to do this year!  Hope to see you there!

Football:  Any 8th grade football players who want to watch film are welcome to bring their lunches to Coach Bielmeier’s room today.

Core Value Poster Contest:  Come check out the core value poster entries on the office windows.  We’ve got so many great designs, and this is our chance to see them before our school-wide vote this Wednesday.

Yearbook Club:  Are you creative, artistic or enjoy taking pictures?  Yearbook club would be a good fit for you! The first yearbook meeting will be located in Mrs. Forster’s room in the 6th grade blue pod today.  We will meet after school at 3:05 – 4:00 pm.  You will need a ride home.  Talk to Mrs. Forster or Ms. Haselhuhn for more information.  If you are unable to make it.

Putting Ourselves First Club:  We will be starting Wednesday, September 28th from 3:05 – 4:00 pm in the Library Conference Room.  No sign up is needed ahead of time.  Join us as we discuss building self-compassion, stress management, boundaries and more.  Snacks are provided.  See you there!  Bring a friend!

Homecoming:  We will have Homecoming Dress Up Days next week.  Hats are allowed if part of the outfit.

Tuesday:  Tie Dye (hippie, anything tie dye, etc.)

Wednesday:  Pod Color (gold, maroon, etc.)

Thursday:  Tropical (leis, anything tropical, etc.)

Friday:  Mustang Pride (wear anything to support the school)

Children’s Art Club:  Free art classes for students K – 8.  No registration needed.  All supplies included.  Taught by Art Ed Students from UW Stout on Tuesdays from 6-7 pm at Heritage Hall, room 103, 10th Ave. E.  First class is Tuesday, September 27th.  The program runs through December 13th.

YEP:  The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) is a middle school group that will meet weekly after school on Tuesdays in Mrs. Duex’s room from 3:15 – 4:45pm.  The program has been offered at MMS since spring 2019, and students can also participate online.

The goal of the group is to provide middle school students with drug prevention programming and opportunities to learn new skills like leadership and public speaking while making a positive impact in their communities.  A secondary goal is to provide an opportunity for students to have an after-school snack, make new friends, and spend time with old ones in a fun and positive environment.

YEP members have participated in activities like creating flyers and informative videos, practicing skits to perform for elementary audiences and enjoyed group tips to Action City and the bowling alley.  Where the group goes next depends on suggestions from our members (and our budget!)

The YEP Staff is looking forward to providing in=-person programming again this fall.  If you know a middle school student who would be interested in joining, or have any questions about the program, visit https://yepyepyep.org/.
