Dear MMS Families, 

As this unique school year comes to a close we wanted to provide you with some information regarding summer school registration and expectations.

You are receiving this invitation because as of term three, your child was not meeting proficiency benchmarks in their English language arts and/or mathematics class. This is based on in class performance data, teacher recommendation, and/or your child’s most recent STAR testing scores. At this time, we are basing recommendations on performance during our typical school year, and are not considering virtual learning performance from term four. This is a good opportunity to continue progress on virtual learning. 

This year we are providing the option of remedial classes in a virtual format for students who need additional support and instruction in these two areas. We strongly encourage your child’s participation in summer school this year due to their progress as of term three. 

Summer school virtual learning expectations include regular participation in activities and any planned virtual meetings. Teachers will be providing introductions for their class on the first day of each session, with more details on work completion as well as expectations for participation in meetings. These meetings will be scheduled by teachers and will include whole group participation in direct instruction or practice. Students will also be assigned activities throughout the week using online tools in each content area. These expectations are informed by guidelines issued from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. 

The dates for session 1 and session 2 are as follows:

  • Session 1: June 15th-June 26th
  • Session 2: July 6th-17th

Please note additional information was sent out district-wide on May 21st via Skyward. When you register your child for summer school sessions they will have options for enrichment as well as remediation.
