Welcome to Summer School 2010! Again this summer the School District of the Menomonie Area is pleased to coordinate the course offerings of Menomonie Parks & Recreation Department and the School District of the Menomonie Area. The brochure contains information explaining the classes offered by both agencies.  Please take special note of the changes  listed below in the Registration Deadline and Registration Fee portion of this letter.

SCHOOL DISTRICT OF THE MENOMONIE AREA:
Session 1: June 21-24, June 28- July 1, and July 12-15
Four-day week - Monday – Thursday mornings

THERE WILL BE NO SUMMER SCHOOL THE WEEK OF JULY 5-9, 2010

Session 2: July 19-July 22, July 26-July 29, and August 2-5
Four-day week - Monday – Thursday mornings

Daily Schedule at Menomonie High School: The daily schedule for classes is as follows: 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. 10:05 a.m.-11:05 a.m. and 11:10 a.m.-12:10 p.m., unless otherwise noted for specific courses.

Classes held at Oaklawn Elementary are: Onsite Pre-4-year-old Kindergarten (additional classes are also offered at partnering child care facilities), Pre-Kindergarten, Post-Kindergarten, Post First Grade, Post Second Grade, Post Third Grade, and Post Fourth Grade.  The daily schedule at Oaklawn Elementary is 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

**Registration deadline: for the school district Summer School is Friday, April 23, 2010.

**Registration fees:  There will be no registration fees charged for the 2010 Summer School.  Certain courses may have fees attached to them.  The courses with fees attached are identified in both the course descriptions and on the enrollment form.

Registration materials for Summer School may be turned in either at your child’s school or at the Administrative Service Center, 215 Pine Avenue NE.  Students who wish to enroll in a course that has limited enrollment, i.e., Fishing Is Fun, should bring those registrations forms directly to the ASC.

Summer Food Service Program:  Anyone 18 years old or younger can enjoy a FREE breakfast and lunch at either the Menomonie High School or Oaklawn Elementary between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Eligibility: Any school age resident of the School District of the Menomonie Area who has not received a high school diploma is eligible to participate in the Summer School program. Regular school rules apply for all summer school courses.
Bus Service: Bus service is provided at no cost for the morning summer school classes only. A complete bus route is printed in this book. Please call Menomonie Transportation at 235-4995 to register your child.

MENOMONIE PARKS & RECREATIONS DEPARTMENT
•    On-line registrations will be accepted for classes offered only by Menomonie Parks and  Rec – click onto our website at www.menomoinerecreation.org  and look for the ActiveNet  icon to walk you through the process.  To learn about other ways you can register check out the “How to Register” section in this brochure.
•    Registrations will be taken for Parks & Rec programs until classes fill - class sizes are limited so don’t delay.
•    Daytime Swimming Lessons- Please note that all daytime swimming lessons for Session I and II, with the exception of the 8:10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., will have to be registered through the school district within the block schedule. The length of time for swimming lessons has been changed to one-hour classes to coincide with all other summer school offerings.
