2018-19 Parent Letter

Dear Parents:

We are pleased to have your child participate in the Menomonie Middle School Wrestling Program.  Wrestling practice is scheduled to start on Monday, January 14th. This year there will be open mats starting January 3rd after school from 3:00- 4:45. Those wrestlers participating in open mats will be wrestling Thursday 1/17/19 at Ellsworth. I will provide more information to those kids who participate in open mats about the Ellsworth meet.

Practices start officially Monday January 14th that is when MMS basketball is done. Practices will be every night after school from 3:00 – 4:45 at Menomonie Middle School. A practice schedule and meet schedule will be provided in January.

All extracurricular paperwork must be completed and returned before your child will be allowed to actively participate in practice.  This paperwork includes a physical or alternative year card, emergency contact card, the code of conduct, and insurance information located in your MMS Activity Program Rules and Regulations packet. If your child has participated in a sport this year at Menomonie Middle School, all paper work should be on file and does not need to be completed again. A $50.00 activity fee is due for all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. However, if your child has participated in a previous activity where an athletic fee was required they do not need to pay. (Please make check out to MMS). Please pay as soon as possible or before the first match. All paperwork and money can be turned in at the office. If there is a financial concern at this time, please contact Danna Schmidt, Activities Coordinator or Mark Anderson, Assistant Principal at Menomonie Middle School. A parent meeting for all wrestlers will be January 4th at 4:45 pm. Please be there as we are going to hand out uniforms and get contact information.

The Menomonie Middle School Wrestling Program encourages participation in organized athletics as a positive growth experience.  The goal of the program is to promote the development of wrestling skills through interscholastic meets.  We strive for fair and equal matches for all athletes based on practice participation, grades, and school behavior.
